Self-aligning ball bearings have 2 rows of balls and a common concave sphered raceway in the outer ring. Both rows are housed in a spherical raceway in the outer ring which allows the bearing to be self-aligning. This means that the bearings are self-aligning and are therefore insensitive to angular misalignments.
